This example actually retains the center back strap as seen on many rucksacks during the war

as well as their date of birth

which indicates it is chambered for the original cartridge designed for the model 1876

There is however some original unfaded bluing on the underside of the barrel assembly

This is a very scarce Style 1 Japanese dirk from the World War II period, the first we have ever offered. This is a Japanese police (sergeants) dirk, circa 1900 1945. This example has a lovely wire wrapped rayskin grip and an original scabbard with working scabbard lock. The backstrap of the hilt bears a lovely police flower emblem. The dirk bears a 12 blade and is 16 overall. The blade has been covered in cosmoline
