2022 Weingut Hermann Ludes Thornicher Ritsch Riesling Kabinett 'Gackes Oben', Mosel, Germany Walter Scott 2022 Le Puy de L'OursThe Gackes Oben is sourced from a prime, central parcel of the Ritsch, above the Gackes, which, you might imagine, is yet another word in the Mosel dialect for slate. The parcel is, literally, above a small wall of slate. These are the so called younger vines of 70 years old, mostly grafted and in the highest elevation of the vineyard at 220m where it is very windy, but also gets very direct sun. Welcome to the cooler part of the Ritsch. Gorgeous
